Islands of Rhode Island Mission

Kite foiling has been an incredible way to explore the Rhode Island coastline. I have set fastest known wind powered records around the four largest islands, officially ratified around Conanicut (Around Jamestown Record). The next mission is to circle all the major islands in a day, a rhumb line distance close to 100 miles.

Conanicut 47:42
24.9 knot average, 34.3 knot max

Prudence 1:57:00
22.6 knot average, 35.1 knot max

Block Island 46:23
25.5 knot average, 31.6 knot max

Aquidneck 2:02:39
22.9 knot average, 32.5 knot max

Details

Mission: Complete a full lap encircling the Islands of Rhode Island including Aquidneck, Block, Conanicut, & Prudence.

Time Frame: Summer 2025, final date will be weather dependent.

Itinerary: Launch from Point Judith, outbound keeping Block Island to port, up the Sakonnet River, across Bristol Harbor to Warwick Neck, southbound through West Passage returning to Point Judith. Estimated time ~ 5 hours.

Logistics: Support boats needed along ocean exposed passages to and from Block Island. Live GPS tracking. Drone footage at scenic locations along route.

Support: Actively looking for sponsorship to support this mission. The kite provides a large canvas for branding as the graphics can be fully customized. I typically train off of Fort Adams in Newport with significant exposure to local day tours on a variety of sail and power boats based in Newport. Contact for more info.
